You Are Invited student film
You Are Invited student film This was filmed between 1999 and 2000 on a 16mm Bolex camera. It was shot in the old Portage Nine Movie theater when I worked there as a film projectionist. I was a student at Columbia College in Chicago at the time and it was brutal trying to get any filming done. Thankfully my fried Joe and his girlfriend's sister, Natalie Iltzsche said yes and helped me get this done. It was edited with a razor blade and perf tape. The yellow glow (butter vision) was hand animated. The story was based off "You Are Invited" by the Dismemberment Plan. The movie is okay, but what is far funnier is the story of this transfer. I had the film sitting around and couldn't watch it because I had no access to a projector. Walking through Walmart, I found out they offered a cheap film transfer. When the movie came back I got a bag of film that had ripped in their transfer. The company was probably used to getting old silent family films and would add in music. The strange part in this case is that it sounds like someone actually scored the film. I think someone got the footage and was bored of "grandma eats cake 1953" and decided to go wild. So, the film has a lot of strange music queues of sexy saxophones and synth hits. I could change the music to the originally intended song, but this is funnier. Life in Alaska so far: June - August 2011
Life in Alaska so far: June - August 2011 I grew up in Texas and New York, but moved to Alaska after graduating from Houghton College in May, 2011. I knew I wanted to live in Alaska after graduation. I arrived in AK on the 24th of May, and have been working as an Animal Keeper/Naturalist intern at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center in Portage, AK ever since. I got this position after applying for it before graduating from college. My schooling background is in outdoor recreation/education and biology. This is the second of many videos showing my favorite memories from my time here in Alaska so far that I've caught on video. Some of the clips are from work, others are from field trips, and still others are from recreating on my days off. They are all in chronological order starting from when I arrived in AK to present. I chose to put the videos to Sigur Ros songs, because I really like them and I think of Alaska when I hear their stuff. They make beautiful music and Alaska is a beautiful state.
